Privacy
The short version: what you type about your family stays in this browser on this device. Kinlingua has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and never sells data.

What stays on your device
Your household — the household name, each child's first name and birth year, their languages, plans, daily check-ins, the language audit, practice phrases, and the people you add (name, role, how well they speak the language, and a phone number if you choose to add one) — is saved in your browser's local storage on this device.
It is not sent to Kinlingua or anyone else. We cannot see it, and we cannot recover it if it's lost. Clearing your browser data, using a private window, or switching devices means starting again unless you have a backup file.
Two small settings are saved the same way: the currency you picked on the pricing page, and whether you dismissed the suggestion to switch language.
So the app can open without a connection, your browser also keeps a copy of the main pages and of pages you load. Those copies contain only the site itself, not your family's information.
Backup files
On the household page you can download a backup file. It is created in your browser and saved wherever your browser saves downloads. It contains everything listed above, including any phone numbers, so keep it somewhere private. Restoring a backup reads the file in your browser; it is not uploaded anywhere.
When you tap a button to ask a relative for help over WhatsApp, Kinlingua opens a WhatsApp link that carries the message (which can include your child's first name) and the relative's number. From that moment WhatsApp handles them under its own privacy policy. Nothing is delivered to your relative until you press send in WhatsApp. Kinlingua does not see the message or the number.
The founding-family list
This is the only information Kinlingua stores on a server. If you join the list on the pricing page, we store your email address, the language the site was in, the currency you were viewing prices in, and the date. Nothing else — no name, no information about your children.
We use it for one thing: to write to you when paid plans open, with the founding-family price. We don't share it, sell it, or add you to any other list.
It is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database located in North America. We delete the list once paid plans open and the founding-family email has gone out. Until then, entries older than 12 months are deleted automatically.
To see, correct, or delete your entry, or to object to us keeping it, write to hola@kinlingua.com from the same address. We reply within 10 business days. If you are in Peru, these are your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition under Law No. 29733 on Personal Data Protection, and you can also complain to Peru's National Authority for Personal Data Protection.
Hosting
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, each visit sends Cloudflare technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, so it can deliver the page and protect it from abuse. We use Cloudflare's request logs only to fix errors; they are kept for a short period set by Cloudflare and then deleted.
What Kinlingua never does
No analytics or tracking scripts, no advertising, no cookies set by Kinlingua, no selling or renting data, no fonts or scripts loaded from other companies' servers. Children don't use Kinlingua; it is written for parents and other adults.
Changes and contact
If accounts or payments are added later, this page will be updated before they go live, and it will say plainly what changes. Questions: hola@kinlingua.com. See also the terms of use.
